The South African National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) have formalized a Lead Agency Procedure agreement. The current call for Swiss-South African joint research projects invites collaborations that demonstrate a clear focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For this round, the NRF is the lead agency.
- Application for: Researchers at recognised Swiss higher education or research institution
- Requirements: Applications must designate two Principal Investigators, one based in South Africa and one in Switzerland, who will bear the main responsibility for the project activities.
- Duration: Maximum duration of 36 months, starting in 2025.
- Grant: ZAR 1.5 million (approximately CHF 70,000)
- Activities eligible for funding: Research-related costs, postdoctoral fellows, short-term research placements, knowledge sharing and capacity building, small equipment, consumables, and accessories.
