FU Berlin and UZH Deepen Collaboration in Leadership Meeting

This week, university leadership from Freie Universität Berlin (FU) and the University of Zurich (UZH) met in Zurich to deepen their strategic partnership and explore new opportunities for cooperation. The meeting served as an important platform for reviewing current developments at the University of Zurich, fostering an open dialog on regional studies, and discussing responsible internationalization. Moreover, updates on the sustainability efforts of both universities highlighted their joint commitment to social, economic, and environmental responsibility. The visit concluded with a tour of the Science Lab, which promotes interest in natural sciences in society, followed by a walk through the Irchel Park.

Since establishing a strategic partnership in 2017, UZH and FU have successfully launched various initiatives, demonstrating the efficacy of regular exchanges between the university's leadership and faculties. Among these initiatives was the "Initiative Geisteswissenschaften", a video series that explored the contributions of various humanities disciplines to societal, economic, and political issues. Moreover, another notable advancement is the collaboration with Charité Universitätsmedizin, the joint medical faculty of Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität, which is enhancing cooperation in medical research and teaching, with a focus on digitalization in medicine.

Furthermore, in 2022, UZH joined Una Europa, a university alliance of which FU is also a member. The continued collaboration of FU and UZH is an example of a dynamic and strategic approach to tackling modern challenges through academic excellence and collaborative endeavors.
