Una Europa

Established in 2018, Una Europa was among the first alliances selected to receive European Commission funding under the prestigious European Universities initiative. The alliance has pioneered a Europe-wide living lab of over 20 innovative educational formats, with mobility at the core. Opportunities for students, academics and university staff span joint bachelor’s degrees and PhD programs to challenge-based learning and international training placements. Una Europa is also developing a research and innovation ecosystem by building a common research and innovation agenda, developing joint strategies for sharing infrastructures, and strengthening human capital. The university of Zurich joined Una Europa in 2022.

Una Europa @ UZH: Internal organization

Una Europa’s Focus Areas act as the thematic glue that ties together the network’s member universities. Each focus area is governed by a Self-Steering Committee (SSC) with experts hailing from each member university. The SSC develop formats based on the Focus Areas. They are complemented by Thematic Clusters, which revolve around the topics of Research, Teaching and Learning, and Mobility. The clusters support the implementation of the formats developed by the SSC. Further, through representatives for the topics of International Strategy, Sustainability and Diversity, alignment with the UZH's strategy and policies in this regard is accounted for. In addition, Student Representatives ensure that student’s voices are heard within Una Europa.
